IZNA Debuts as the 'Iconic It Girl' with Ambitions for Billboard Success

The girl group IZNA (이즈나) has officially announced their arrival as the 'Iconic It Girl' in the K-pop scene. On November 25, 2024, the members—Mai (마이), Bang Ji-min (방지민), Yoon Ji-yoon (윤지윤), Coco (코코), Yoo Sa-rang (유사랑), Choi Jeong-eun (최정은), and Jung Se-bi (정세비)—held a showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjang-dong, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their first mini-album, 'N/a'.
IZNA was formed through Mnet's 'I-LAND 2', where they were chosen by K-pop fans from 217 countries, embodying the spirit of confident girls who can achieve anything, anywhere, at any time.
Coco expressed her disbelief at finally debuting, stating, "I still can't believe that we are debuting after dreaming about it for so long. We will show our wonderful selves to everyone who has been waiting for IZNA." Mai added, "I want to thank everyone who has helped us get here. We have practiced hard to show a more grown-up version of ourselves compared to our time on 'I-LAND 2', so please look forward to it."
Yoo Sa-rang shared her excitement about their debut album, saying, "I am really looking forward to showing you our debut album, which showcases a variety of charms, so please pay a lot of attention to it." Bang Ji-min thanked the fans for making it possible for them to stand on such a dream-like stage, urging them to continue their support. Yoon Ji-yoon noted that they are debuting with a song that shares the same name as their group, promising to showcase their diverse talents.
Choi Jeong-eun expressed her eagerness to perform, saying, "I was excited to show our stage, but I was also nervous. However, we have prepared diligently." Jung Se-bi reflected on the dream-like experience of standing on stage with her fellow members, emphasizing their chemistry.
IZNA has already garnered attention even before their official debut. They made their debut stage at the '2024 MAMA' held at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan, on November 22, where they performed a pre-release stage. They also engaged with global fans through a series of pop-up stores and collaboration cafes in Korea and Japan. Jung Se-bi expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to debut on such a grand stage, saying, "It felt overwhelming to perform while hearing the cheers from our fans. It felt like I was dreaming, and I will work even harder."
Their mini-album 'N/a' symbolizes the limitless potential of girls who challenge their fears and push beyond their limits. With the title track sharing the same name as the group, they are set to make a bold statement in the music industry. Yoon Ji-yoon mentioned, "Since we debuted through 'I-LAND 2', we are trying to show a different side of ourselves than what was seen on the show. We have prepared a lot to surprise those who have been waiting for IZNA, and we believe we are breaking through our limits together. We hope you will watch us with affectionate eyes."
Jung Se-bi highlighted the unique charm of each member, stating that their synergy is IZNA's strength. Choi Jeong-eun shared her admiration for BLACKPINK, saying, "I have been inspired by many seniors, especially BLACKPINK. I was amazed by how they perfectly execute both dance and vocals, and I aspire to emulate that. We will showcase more performances infused with IZNA's color."
The debut track 'IZNA' is a hip-hop song characterized by its catchy chorus and minimalistic beat, reflecting their confidence to capture everyone's attention. Teddy, who worked with them since 'I-LAND 2', contributed to the lyrics, composition, and arrangement, hinting at the birth of another hit.
Bang Ji-min expressed her excitement upon hearing the song for the first time, stating, "I thought it was a great song that suited all seven of us well, and I wanted to prepare diligently to show a wonderful performance. We have worked hard to infuse our unique colors into it. We want to explore new aspects of ourselves while ensuring all seven members shine."
Yoon Ji-yoon shared her appreciation for Teddy's guidance during their preparation, recalling his advice that good work comes from mutual understanding. Yoo Sa-rang expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work with a producer who has worked with many successful artists, saying, "It has been an honor to be warmly welcomed by him since our first meeting, and we are thankful for the great results that reflect our colors."
IZNA's mini-album includes the title track 'IZNA', along with four other tracks: 'TIMEBOMB', 'IWALY (I Will Always Love You)', 'DRIP', and 'FAKE IT'. Teddy contributed to both the title track and 'TIMEBOMB', enhancing the album's quality, while 'IWALY', 'DRIP', and 'FAKE IT' are reimagined in IZNA's style.
Coco described 'TIMEBOMB' as an exciting yet nostalgic easy-listening dance track, highlighting its warm vocals and distinct charm compared to the title track.
As an iconic girl group poised to shake up the fifth generation of K-pop, the members are filled with ambition. Bang Ji-min stated, "I believe IZNA shines the brightest on stage, and I want to be known as a stage genius. I want IZNA to captivate K-pop fans." Coco added, "Our goal is to introduce IZNA to many people. Personally, I want to achieve first place on music shows." Mai expressed her hope that when people think of K-pop girl groups, they will think of IZNA first.
Yoo Sa-rang hopes this album will be a gift for the fans who have been waiting for them, while Yoon Ji-yoon aspires to become an irreplaceable iconic girl group created by the seven of them. Choi Jeong-eun aims to grow and work hard to become an artist who can perform on more stages, and Jung Se-bi expressed her desire to carry the title of a stage genius and aim for the Billboard charts.
IZNA's first mini-album 'N/a' will be available on various music platforms starting at 6 PM today.
