IU Recognized as Global No. 1 Artist by Billboard

Singer IU (아이유) has been honored as the representative artist from South Korea in Billboard's 'Global No. 1 Artist Series'. Billboard praised her, stating, "IU is irreplaceable. While many excel in various fields such as being popular idols, talented musicians, skilled actors, and smooth hosts, no one else can do it all like IU." They further emphasized the unwavering love K-pop fans and Korean music enthusiasts have for her, noting that her popularity spans across generations, evident in her musical achievements and performances.

Billboard also analyzed her chart and world tour successes for the year. They highlighted that IU made a significant impact on the 2024 charts, with her song 'Love wins all' reaching the Melon TOP100 chart's number one spot just one hour after its release. It maintained the top position for four consecutive weeks, topped the monthly chart in February, and achieved a perfect all-kill on the iChart 339 times.

Regarding her world tour, Billboard reported that IU attracted approximately 500,000 fans across 31 performances in 12 countries, setting a record for the largest world tour by a female solo artist from Korea. She also became the first female artist to perform at the Seoul World Cup Stadium and the first to hold concerts in all major domestic stadiums.

In an interview with Billboard, IU expressed her feelings about the recognition, saying, "Global, Billboard, number one. These descriptors feel strange yet honorable and make me happy."

Looking ahead, IU is set to release the Netflix series '폭싹 속았수다' in 2025 and is currently balancing filming for the new MBC drama '21세기 대군 부인 (tentative title)' along with her music projects, generating excitement among fans.
