IU Opens Up About Emotional Impact of Acting

Singer and actress IU (아이유) recently shared that her experiences filming a drama have made her more emotional. In a video titled 'Let’s Keep Seeing IU' on the online channel 'Yoo In-na Radio,' she was asked by host Yoo In-na which character she would like to switch places with for a day.

IU responded by mentioning her character from 'Pretty Man' (예쁜 남자), saying, 'If we’re talking about a character that fits that criteria, it would be Boong-hee.' She recalled how Yoo In-na had affectionately supported her character, encouraging her to take on more roles like that, which she enjoyed playing.

Yoo In-na then confessed that she often becomes emotionally invested in her roles, especially when portraying unrequited love, which leaves her feeling quite down. IU agreed, admitting that she didn’t think she was affected by her roles at first, but has come to realize that she is.

She reflected on her year-long filming for 'My Mister' (나의 아저씨), where her character, Aesoon, cried in nearly every scene. 'I experienced all kinds of tears—sadness, joy, and frustration. After a year of crying, I noticed I’ve become a bit more tearful,' she explained.

During her world tour, she found herself getting emotional and realized how much her acting had influenced her feelings. IU concluded by noting that Boong-hee is a bright and resilient character, suggesting that living as Boong-hee would be enjoyable, adding a light-hearted touch to the conversation.
