IU Celebrates Birthday with Generous Donations to Charities

On May 16, singer and actress IU (아이유) celebrated her birthday by spreading warmth and kindness through charitable donations. Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced that IU contributed a total of 200 million KRW, donating 50 million KRW each to four organizations under the name 'IUana' (아이유애나). The funds will support impoverished families, elderly individuals living alone, youth preparing for independence, single-parent households, and people with disabilities in South Korea.
The donations were made to 'Hope Stone' (희망조약돌), 'Korea Child Rights Protection Agency' (아동권리보장원), 'Happy Giver' (해피기버), and 'Warm Companionship' (따뜻한동행). The funds will be utilized for various purposes, including supporting the livelihoods of low-income families and elderly individuals, providing social settlement costs for youth preparing for independence, assisting single-parent families with living, medical, and educational expenses, and enhancing welfare and advanced assistive devices for people with disabilities.
IU has consistently made donations on significant occasions such as her debut anniversary, her birthday, and during the New Year, under the 'IUana' name, demonstrating her commitment to making a positive impact. Earlier in March, she donated 200 million KRW to support victims of large-scale wildfires in the Gyeongsang region and improve the treatment of firefighters. On Children's Day, she also donated 150 million KRW for children and youth.
In addition to her philanthropic efforts, IU is set to release her long-awaited remake album 'Flower Bookmark 3' (꽃갈피 셋) on May 27, marking her first album in eight years. She is also preparing to film her upcoming drama 'The 21st Century Great Lady' (21세기 대군 부인).
