IU Celebrates 10 Million YouTube Subscribers with Diamond Play Button Unboxing
On May 14, singer and actress IU (아이유) celebrated reaching 10 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, '이지금 [IU Official]', by unboxing her Diamond Play Button in a new video titled "1000만 유튜버 이지금의 다이아 버튼 언박싱." In the video, IU expressed her surprise at how quickly the award arrived, as she opened the box containing the Diamond Play Button. She shared, "It came with a certificate too," while holding the button and noting its weight. "It says '이지금' on the back. It's so beautiful," she added.
Adding her signature humor, IU joked, "I should carry this around like a Teletubby from now on," before thanking her fans, stating, "This isn’t just my award; it’s a button we created together."
Reflecting on the moment she hit 10 million subscribers, IU recalled, "I did a live broadcast then, and it felt amazing. I’m a bit more accustomed to it now, but it still feels overwhelming." She highlighted her favorite video as the April Fool's content featuring her father, saying, "I never expected that video to surpass 10 million views. My dad's acting really shone in it."
When discussing her favorite content series, IU mentioned, "'아이유 TV' has been with me from the start and has played many roles. '팔레트' is the essence of this channel, filled with sincerity."
Finally, IU revealed her new goal, stating, "I thought the Diamond Button was the last one, but I heard there’s a Ruby Button. Now, my target is 50 million subscribers!"
