‘Investigation Team Leader 1958’ Wins Drama of the Year at MBC Acting Awards

On January 5, 2025, ‘수사반장 1958’ (Investigation Team Leader 1958) was awarded the Drama of the Year at the 2024 MBC Acting Awards, hosted by broadcaster Kim Sung-joo and actress Chae Soo-bin. During the ceremony, DJ Lee Seok-hoon from ‘Brunch Cafe’ introduced the nominees by sharing the stories of the main characters from various dramas aired throughout the year. The award was ultimately presented to ‘Investigation Team Leader 1958.’

Upon hearing the announcement, lead actors Lee Je-hoon and Lee Dong-wook appeared visibly surprised. Producer Jang Jae-hoon took the stage to express his gratitude, stating, “I am Jang Jae-hoon, the executive producer of ‘Investigation Team Leader 1958.’ This is my first time standing in front of such a crowd, and I can understand the nerves.” He also extended his condolences regarding a recent tragic airplane accident, offering a small message of comfort to the grieving families.

Jang continued, “As you know, ‘Investigation Team Leader 1958’ is a reinterpretation of the original ‘Investigation Team Leader’ series that aired on MBC for 18 years. This was our first attempt to recycle a beloved IP, and we are incredibly grateful for the audience's support that led to this significant recognition. I would like to thank the MBC executives who assisted us during the planning stages.”

He also acknowledged the special guest, veteran actor Choi Bool-am, who received a lifetime achievement award, as well as his fellow cast members Lee Je-hoon, Lee Dong-wook, and Choi Woo-sung. Jang expressed his appreciation for the hard work of director Kim Sung-hoon, the assistant directors, producers, and the operational team who dedicated long hours during the cold winter.

In a surprising announcement, Jang revealed that they are currently planning a new series following ‘Investigation Team Leader 1958.’ He promised that they would create an even more remarkable drama to present to viewers soon, thanking the audience once again for their love and support for MBC dramas.
