Investigation Reveals Chanel Bag Gifted to Kim Geon-hee's Aide
The ongoing investigation into the case involving shaman Jeon Seong-bae (65) has revealed that a Chanel bag, valued at approximately 10 million won, was allegedly received from former Unification Church leader Yoon by Jeon as a gift for Kim Geon-hee, the wife of South Korea's former president. Reports indicate that the Seoul Southern District Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that this bag was indeed passed on to Kim's aide, identified as Yoo. Previously, Jeon had claimed during the investigation that he lost the gift he received from Yoon. However, recent searches at Chanel Korea have uncovered evidence that Yoo exchanged the bag for a more expensive Chanel item after receiving it from Jeon. Prosecutors are planning to summon Kim Geon-hee soon to determine whether she received the bag and whether Yoo swapped it. Kim's legal representative stated that Yoo acted without Kim's knowledge and insisted that Kim never received the bag. Yoo reportedly corroborated this statement during her recent appearance before the prosecutors. Additionally, the investigation is also looking into whether Jeon gifted Kim a high-end necklace from the British luxury brand Graff, which he received from Yoon in the latter half of last year. Notably, Kim was seen wearing a necklace from the French luxury brand Van Cleef & Arpels, valued at around 60 million won, during Yoon's first overseas trip to the NATO summit in June 2022. Prosecutors have obtained a conversation in which Yoon instructed Jeon not to lend the necklace, stating it was intended as a gift for Kim. However, Kim's side has denied ever receiving a necklace from Jeon.
