Investigation into Kim Geon-hee's Alleged Bribery Scandal Intensifies

On July 25, 2025, the special investigation team led by Kim Geon-hee applied for an arrest warrant for Yoon Mo, a former head of the Unification Church's World Mission Headquarters, who was referred to as the 'second-in-command' of the church. Yoon is accused of soliciting favors from Kim Geon-hee through Jeon Seong-bae, a figure associated with the church, regarding various issues from 2022 to 2023. Allegations suggest that Yoon provided gifts worth approximately 60 million won, including a Graff diamond necklace, two Chanel bags valued at 10 million won each, and expensive herbal tea. In return, the Unification Church allegedly requested support for projects such as the development of the Mekong River in Cambodia, the acquisition of YTN, the establishment of the UN's Fifth Office in Korea, and invitations to the presidential inauguration.

While Jeon acknowledged hearing about these requests, he dismissed them as nonsensical and claimed to have lost the necklace and bags he received from Yoon. He admitted to receiving 10 million won from Yoon on two occasions under the pretext of prayer fees but denied that this was in exchange for connections to the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.

However, Yoon reportedly stated during a previous investigation that the gifts were given in accordance with the wishes of the church's leader and had been approved. This led to the special investigation team conducting searches at the Unification Church's headquarters in Gapyeong and the church's main church in Yongsan, Seoul, on July 18, before summoning Yoon for questioning four days later.
