Imujin's YouTube Music Views Reset, Agency Declares 'No Recovery Possible'

In a recent development, the YouTube music views for singer Imujin (이무진) have been reset, prompting his agency, Big Planet Made (빅플래닛메이드, BPM), to announce that recovery of the views is not possible. On January 16, 2025, BPM released an official statement explaining the situation surrounding the reset of the music views.
According to the agency, due to a partnership agreement with YGP, as of January 1, 2025, the distribution of Imujin's previous content (comprising 31 albums and 109 tracks) was transferred to YGP. During this transfer, a situation arose where the existing art tracks registered by the previous distributor were terminated in accordance with YouTube's art track service policy, leading to the new art tracks being registered by YGP. Consequently, the views for these art tracks were reset to zero, a situation that was described as unavoidable and in line with YouTube's service policies.
Fans had previously expressed their frustration over the reset by staging protests outside the agency's office, particularly as Imujin's recent release, 'Episode' (에피소드), was on the verge of reaching 100 million views with 90 million on YouTube Music and 76 million on YouTube. The reset was seen as a significant blow to fans who had been eagerly anticipating this milestone.
In response to the backlash, BPM stated that they had consulted with YGP and the YouTube channel representatives to explore the possibility of restoring the views. However, they received a final response indicating that, due to internal policies at YouTube, restoring the views was not feasible.
The agency expressed deep regret for not adequately verifying the issue beforehand, attributing the problem to insufficient preparation on both their part and YGP's. They assured fans that they would continue to monitor any remaining errors and work diligently to prevent future issues.
BPM concluded their statement by sincerely apologizing to both the artist and fans for the impact this situation has had on the valuable records and efforts accumulated over time. They committed to improving their internal systems and preparation processes to avoid similar occurrences in the future.
