Impact of Impeachment Vote Leads to Programming Changes

The repercussions of the impeachment re-vote are beginning to show, with 'Korea's Singer in Germany' being the first program to announce its cancellation. On December 11, KBS confirmed to OSEN that the second episode of 'Korea's Singer in Germany,' scheduled for this Saturday, will be replaced by a special titled 'Korea's Singer Special - From Mallorca to Munich.' However, the KBS2 program 'Salim Man' will air as planned on the same day.
'Korea's Singer' is a music variety show featuring top K-pop artists exploring the music and culture of different countries while searching for their own identity as singers. Following the successful conclusion of the Spain segment, the upcoming 'Korea's Singer in Germany' will feature artists such as Suzy, Sunwoo Jung-Ah, ATEEZ's Hongjoong and Jongho, Sohyang, Henry, Jairo, and Inau as they embark on a busking adventure in Munich.
The second episode, set to air on December 14, was expected to showcase a duet between Suzy and ATEEZ's Jongho, but this week’s broadcast will be replaced by a special episode. This change appears to be a direct result of the impeachment re-vote for President Yoon Suk-yeol scheduled for the same day.
Previously, the state of emergency led to many scheduled entertainment and drama programs being canceled in favor of news specials. However, networks without news reporting capabilities did not make significant scheduling adjustments. KBS2 continued its regular programming on December 7, airing shows like 'Immortal Songs' and 'Salim Man' without interruption.
In contrast, most other programs were canceled, including SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Hot Blooded Priest 2' and MBC's variety shows 'How Do You Play?' and 'The Manager,' as well as the drama 'The Call You.' With the impeachment re-vote for President Yoon set for December 14 at 5 PM, the broadcasting industry is watching closely to see if more programs will be affected by cancellations.
