On July 24, Prime Minister Kim Min-seok (김민석) initiated a new social dialogue platform called K-Talk Nation (K-토론나라) during the first session of 'Future Dialogue 1·2·3' held at Sang Sang Planet in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of involving youth in significant social policies, stating that their participation should extend beyond merely raising issues to actively influencing policy decisions. 

Kim expressed his commitment to broadening the scope and methods of youth participation, promising to continue discussions on how to achieve this. After the meeting, he stated his intention to visit youth in their communities to listen to their concerns regarding employment and housing.

During a previous broadcast, he shocked viewers by showing how his neck could bend at a 90-degree angle, evoking public sympathy. 

Reflecting on his struggles, Lee recalled, "While filming, my stomach would start running uncontrollably. It gradually got worse, and I couldn't manage it anymore. I couldn't lie down, my back was constantly bent, and I experienced repeated abdominal spasms." He expressed his frustration, saying, "Why did this illness happen to me? It was so frustrating." 

His wife, Kim Mi-soon (김미순), who also appeared on the show, shared their challenging journey. "For 19 months, we visited various hospitals, including university hospitals and traditional medicine clinics, but his condition worsened. We received prescriptions without knowing the cause. We tried nerve block surgeries and everything else possible," she explained. She described the emotional toll, saying, "It felt like the sky was falling. It was like passing through a tunnel with no light. I felt like crying every day." 

When conventional treatments failed, Lee decided to follow his wife's advice to find alternative methods. Kim took it upon herself to create a diet using seasonal ingredients, prepared all his meals, and provided massages for two and a half years. Thanks to her dedication, Lee gradually began to sleep better, and his abdominal spasms disappeared, leading to significant improvement in his health. 

Lee remarked, "It felt like I went through hell for four years." As he started to feel better, he felt the urge to exercise again, saying, "I began to think I should start working out, so I went hiking and walking." He made a remarkable comeback by participating in the 28th Samcheok Hwang Young-jo International Marathon (제28회 삼척 황영조 국제마라톤대회) held in April last year, where he ran approximately 100 meters, showcasing a 'miracle.' 

In closing, Lee expressed his gratitude to his wife, stating, "Thank you for always being my support. You've endured so much over these four long years. I feel I need to treat you well for the rest of my life."

In connection with the 'rescue lobbying' allegations involving former Marine Corps 1st Division Commander Lim Seong-geun, Kim Jang-hwan (91), Chairman of Far East Broadcasting, and Lee Young-hoon (71), Senior Pastor of Yoido Full Gospel Church, have appointed lawyers Kim Hoe-jae and Kang Chan-woo for legal representation. Both lawyers are former prosecutors with connections to current government officials, including President Lee Jae-myung.

The allegations stem from the death of Corporal Chae Soo-geun in July-August 2023, during which Lim was initially included as a suspect in negligent homicide but was later excluded. On July 18, the Marine Corps Special Investigation Team conducted searches at the homes and churches of Kim and Lee, who are considered witnesses in the case. Following the searches, they sought legal counsel.

Kim Hoe-jae, representing Kim, previously served as the Chief Prosecutor of Uijeongbu, while Kang Chan-woo, representing Lee, was the Chief Prosecutor of Suwon. Both lawyers are known to have ties with current government figures. Kim Hoe-jae was a member of the Democratic Party during the 21st National Assembly and ran in the party's primary for the 22nd National Assembly elections last year but was unsuccessful. Kang Chan-woo, a classmate of President Lee at the Judicial Research and Training Institute, provided legal assistance during the investigation of a public election law violation case in 2018 when Lee was the governor of Gyeonggi Province.

Kim Hoe-jae has been the lead attorney at law firm LKB, while Kang Chan-woo has led law firm Pyeongsan. Notably, LKB and Pyeongsan merged last month. Kim is a Protestant, while Kang is a Catholic. On July 20, Kang claimed that the Marine Corps Special Investigation Team deprived him of his right to legal assistance and did not provide any information regarding the protection of his rights. In response, the Special Investigation Team stated that there were no procedural violations. A legal expert commented that the respected figures in the religious community, despite being witnesses, opted to appoint legal representation to actively exercise their right to defense after being subjected to searches.

The long-standing copyright infringement lawsuit regarding the popular children's song 'Baby Shark' (상어가족) is set to conclude after six years. The Supreme Court of South Korea has scheduled the ruling date for the appeal filed by American composer Jonathan Robert Light (also known as Johnny Only) for August 14. 

In March 2019, Light claimed that 'Baby Shark' plagiarized his traditional children's song, which he remade in 2011, arguing that the song had unique characteristics. He filed a lawsuit against SmartStudy, the company behind 'Baby Shark', seeking damages. 

SmartStudy countered that 'Baby Shark' is a remake of a North American traditional song, which is either anonymous or has expired copyright, thus not subject to restrictions. Both the first and second trials ruled in favor of SmartStudy, but Light's team did not accept the verdicts. 

'Baby Shark' was released by SmartStudy in 2015 through its educational content brand Pinkfong. The song made history by reaching number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the first Korean children's song to enter the main Billboard charts. It also entered the UK Official Singles Chart in 2018, further solidifying its global impact.

Actor Song Young-kyu (송영규) has come under scrutiny after it was revealed that he was driving under the influence. Reports indicate that he is currently without a management agency following the expiration of his contract. As of early June, Song was still affiliated with Management Goo, but he is now pursuing acting independently. A representative from his former agency confirmed to OSEN that while they cannot specify the exact date of the contract's end, Song is no longer with them.

On the same day, it was reported that Song is being investigated by the police for allegedly driving while intoxicated. The Yongin Dongbu Police Department in Gyeonggi Province has forwarded the case to the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office for further action. The incident reportedly occurred on June 19, when Song was driving approximately 5 kilometers from Giheung District to Cheoin District while heavily intoxicated. Fifteen-year-old cellist Lee Jae-ri (이재리) made history by becoming the youngest winner of the 6th Schoenfeld International String Competition, which concluded on July 23 in Harbin, China. She received a prize of $30,000 and is also noted as the youngest participant in the competition's history.

On June 19, around 11 PM, Song is accused of driving approximately 5 kilometers from Giheung District to Cheoin District while heavily intoxicated. Upon conducting a breathalyzer test, it was revealed that his blood alcohol concentration was at a level that would lead to license suspension (0.08%). 

Investigations indicate that Song had been drinking with friends in the Giheung area before deciding to drive home. In a statement to Ilgan Sports, he admitted, "I was absolutely wrong. I am truly sorry." He explained that he initially called for a designated driver, but when a new acquaintance arrived and they chatted at a convenience store, the driver left. He then made the poor decision to drive himself, despite being only a five-minute distance from home, using cruise control. 

Song also mentioned that he was not feeling well on the day of the incident and had taken medication, which he believes may have worsened his condition, leading him to drink less than usual. 

Since his debut in 1994 with the children's musical 'Mertel Dosa' (머털도사), Song has appeared in numerous dramas and films, including notable roles in 'Extreme Job' (극한직업), 'Suriname' (수리남), and 'Casino' (카지노). He is currently starring in the ENA drama 'I Shopping' (아이쇼핑) and is set to appear in the new SBS drama 'Try: We Become Miracles' (트라이: 우리는 기적이 된다), which premieres on July 25.

Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, was reportedly advised to seek political asylum in South Korea or the United States just three months before his assassination on February 13, 2017, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia. Despite this, Kim Jong-nam left without further comment. Phan reflected on the encounter in an interview, wishing he had been more insistent about urging Kim Jong-nam to seek asylum. He described Kim Jong-nam as a regular patron who enjoyed dishes like beef ribs, cold noodles, stir-fried squid, and soju, often accompanied by a woman believed to be his wife. Phan characterized Kim Jong-nam as kind and soft-spoken. Kim Jong-nam, the eldest son of former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, had been living abroad for most of his life. He was assassinated by a team sent from North Korea using the toxic nerve agent VX, five years after Kim Jong-un took power following Kim Jong-il's death in December 2011. The shocking assassination was captured on airport CCTV and widely reported around the world.

A serious incident occurred involving Haruna (하루나), a 19-year-old member of the girl group Billlie (빌리), when an intruder unlawfully entered her residence. On July 25, 2025, the group's agency, Mystic Story (미스틱스토리), released a statement detailing that the intruder forcibly damaged the entrance door and threatened the artist. Following the incident, the agency promptly reported the matter to the police and relocated Haruna to a safer location. She also underwent a thorough medical examination.
