Im Yo-hwan Reveals His Acting 'Black History' on Radio Star

Im Yo-hwan, the former 'StarCraft Emperor' and current professional poker player, is set to share his amusing 'black history' from his peak popularity days when he made a cameo alongside actor So Ji-sub in a film. Known as the 'King of 2000s Gaming,' he humorously noted that while he kept his rival Hong Jin-ho in second place during his gaming career, he is currently losing to him in the poker scene.

The special Lunar New Year episode of MBC's Radio Star, airing on January 29, features guests including Im Yo-hwan, Jo Hyun-jae, Lee Eun-gyeol, Gweedo, and Park Young-jin.

Im Yo-hwan is recognized for his pivotal role in the rise of eSports, particularly during the golden age of StarCraft. He gained immense popularity in the 2000s and served in the Air Force as an 'eSports' soldier, participating in around 40 tournaments annually after the creation of the Air Force gaming team.

During the episode, he will recount his unique military experiences as an eSports soldier, including the surprising turnout of over 2,000 soldiers at his weekend autograph sessions. He also shares a light-hearted story about how he brought snacks from fans back to his unit after external competitions.

Additionally, Im Yo-hwan reminisces about meeting his wife, Kim Ga-yeon, at various military events, revealing the sweet story of their first romantic connection.

After his successful gaming career, he transitioned to coaching and is now a professional poker player. He humorously admits that he is currently outperformed by his long-time rival Hong Jin-ho in the poker arena.

Im Yo-hwan also reflects on his acting debut in a film starring So Ji-sub, candidly admitting that he found acting to be quite challenging. A scene from the movie 'Can't Live Without You' will be shown, along with behind-the-scenes anecdotes that are sure to elicit laughter.
