Since May, HYBE has been hosting fan engagement events in Bangkok in connection with ENHYPEN's world tour, 'ENHYPEN WORLD TOUR 'WALK THE LINE' IN BANGKOK.' These events have provided fans with unique cultural experiences beyond just attending the concert.

‘Salim Nam’ Continues to Dominate Saturday Night Ratings

The number of foreign medical graduates passing Korea's preliminary medical exam, a requirement to take the national medical licensing exam, has more than tripled in just one year. According to the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute (국시원), 172 out of 194 candidates passed the second round of the 21st preliminary medical exam held on July 11, 2025. This figure is 3.1 times higher than last year's record of 55 successful candidates.

The preliminary medical exam, established in 2005, allows graduates from recognized foreign medical schools to qualify for the Korean national exam. Until 2014, the number of passers was in single digits, but it has gradually increased, with 10 in 2015, 30 in 2017, 43 in 2021, and 55 last year.

With this significant rise in successful candidates from overseas universities, it is anticipated that the number of foreign graduates passing the main national exam, set to be announced early next year, will also increase. In January, 52 foreign medical graduates passed the national exam, which was notable as the number of domestic candidates had decreased significantly due to a conflict in the medical community, leading to a 19.3% representation of foreign graduates among the total passers.

Additionally, the number of residents at the 'Big 5' hospitals (서울대, 서울아산, 세브란스, 삼성서울, 서울성모) has more than doubled compared to the end of last year, thanks to returning residents in the first half of this year. As reported by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, there are currently 548 residents (113 interns and 435 residents) at these hospitals, which is 2.4 times the 230 residents (17 interns and 213 residents) recorded in December 2024.

The increase in residents is attributed to some individuals choosing to return as the conflict in the medical community continues. However, the total number of residents across the country remains at only 20% of the pre-conflict levels.

Surge in Foreign Medical Graduates Passing Korea's Preliminary Medical Exam

On the morning of July 20, 2025, heavy rainfall in Gapyeong, South Korea, resulted in tragic consequences, including the deaths of two individuals and five others reported missing. According to the Gyeonggi Province Disaster Response Headquarters, at approximately 4:30 AM, an 80-year-old resident, identified as Mr. Lee (이모), was swept away by strong currents in the Daebo area of Jojong-myeon. He had been trying to evacuate with his family after a flood warning was issued for the Daebo Bridge area, but became trapped by rising waters. While his family managed to escape, Mr. Lee did not. Authorities have confirmed that four other residents are also missing: two from Jojong-myeon and one each from Sang-myeon and Buk-myeon. The circumstances surrounding their disappearances remain unclear, and search efforts by police and firefighters are ongoing, hampered by the swollen river. 

A flood warning was issued at 2:40 AM, and by 3:20 AM, water levels had risen to 9.2 meters, surpassing the 'serious' threshold of 6.4 meters, leading to the overflow of the Jojong River. In response, Gapyeong County ordered the evacuation of 15 households in the Daebo Bridge area to higher ground. 

At around 4:37 AM, a landslide occurred in Shin-sang-ri, Jojong-myeon, causing three houses to collapse. Four residents were trapped, resulting in the death of a woman in her 70s, while three others were rescued. Additionally, at 4:58 AM, a report was received from a pension in Jojong-myeon about a guest who had gone out to move a car and lost contact. Police confirmed that the individual was rescued at the scene. 

By 6:14 AM, it was reported that a man in his 40s had also been swept away by the current at the Daebo Bridge in Sang-myeon. During the early hours of the morning, police received a total of 126 reports related to landslides, missing persons, flooding, road inundation, and river overflow. The Northern Gyeonggi Police have declared a disaster emergency and are on standby, mobilizing up to 50% of available personnel, while the Gapyeong Police have also activated their emergency response. 

A representative from the Gyeonggi Province Disaster Response Headquarters stated that communication and power outages in various areas are complicating rescue efforts.
