ILLIT to Perform at the 66th Japan Record Awards After Winning Rookie of the Year
The K-pop group ILLIT (윤아, 민주, 모카, 원희, 이로하) is set to make a significant appearance at the prestigious 66th Japan Record Awards, where they will not only receive the honor of Rookie of the Year but also perform their debut track 'Magnetic'. Scheduled for December 30 at 5:30 PM JST, the event will be broadcast live on TBS.
'Magnetic' has made waves in Japan this year, ranking fifth in the annual YouTube Shorts Top Songs and earning a spot on the 'LINE Music Trend Awards 2024' list, making it the only K-pop song to achieve such recognition among local hits. Additionally, it reached an impressive 15th place on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 annual chart, marking the highest position for a K-pop track this year. With its quirky charm, ILLIT's performance of 'Magnetic' is expected to captivate local audiences.
ILLIT's recognition as Rookie of the Year marks a significant milestone, as they are the first K-pop girl group to win this award in 13 years at the Japan Record Awards, and notably, they achieved this before their official debut in Japan.
The Japan Record Awards, organized by the Japan Composers Association, is one of the oldest and most prestigious music award ceremonies in Japan, having been established in 1959. The awards are broadcast live every December 30 on TBS.
