ILLIT Recognized in LA: Wins Best New Female Artist at MAMA

The girl group ILLIT (아일릿), consisting of members YoonA (윤아), MinJu (민주), MoKa (모카), WonHee (원희), and Iroha (이로하), has proudly added a second rookie award trophy to their collection since debuting. On November 21, 2024, local time, ILLIT was honored with the 'Best New Female Artist' award at the 2024 MAMA AWARDS held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Expressing their gratitude, ILLIT stated, "It is an honor just to be able to showcase our performance on the 'MAMA' stage, which we have dreamed of since our trainee days. We sincerely thank you for this valuable award." They also acknowledged their fellow members, saying, "The members who worked hard together deserve congratulations."

They continued, "We are especially grateful to our fans, GLLIT (글릿), who made this possible! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will strive to be a team that shines brightly alongside GLLIT for a long time."

During their performance, ILLIT captivated the audience with their quirky and bold charm. The members set the stage with a theme titled 'ILLusion IT,' delivering an enchanting intro performance that evoked a magical girl vibe. As their debut track 'Magnetic' played, the crowd erupted in excitement, and they joyfully danced along to the title track of their second mini-album, 'Cherish (My Love).'

Additionally, ILLIT showcased a cover of TWICE's 'Heart Shaker,' presenting a performance reminiscent of a musical. This segment highlighted Iroha's journey of gaining confidence through interactions with her fellow members, infused with ILLIT's signature bright and lively energy, which resonated well with the audience.

Since their debut in March, ILLIT has created a global sensation with their title track 'Magnetic,' earning the title of 'super rookie.' 'Magnetic' made history as the first K-pop debut song to enter both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart. The track was also recognized as the most-streamed K-pop song abroad on Spotify for the first half of 2024 and was featured on TikTok's 'Summer Song of the Year 2024' list for Korea and Japan, dominating the charts. Riding this wave of success, ILLIT has now received consecutive rookie awards, first at the prestigious 66th Japan Record Awards and now at the 2024 MAMA.

In related news, ILLIT released the English version of their mini-album track 'Tick-Tack' titled 'Baby It’s Both (Tick-Tack English Ver.) Feat. Ava Max' on November 22, 2024. The song features the popular electronic and dance artist Ava Max, further expanding ILLIT's reach in the global music scene.
