ILLIT Proves Their Super Rookie Status with Back-to-Back 'Half-Million Seller' Albums

The K-pop group ILLIT (아일릿) has achieved remarkable success by becoming a 'Half-Million Seller' for two consecutive albums. According to their agency, Belift Lab, ILLIT's second mini album, 'I’LL LIKE YOU,' sold a total of 582,333 copies (including both standard and Weverse editions) as of October, marking a significant milestone just ten days after surpassing 500,000 copies. This rapid growth is particularly notable when compared to their debut mini album, 'SUPER REAL ME,' which reached 'Half-Million Seller' status in about a month.

In total, ILLIT has sold over 1.26 million copies across their two albums released this year. Their global popularity, driven by the short-form content trend, has led to a steady increase in new fans, with 'SUPER REAL ME' alone selling over 680,000 copies. As the November charts are yet to be tallied, these figures are expected to rise further.

ILLIT's presence is also evident on major global charts, as both of their albums have entered the Billboard 200 in the United States. They are the only K-pop artists who debuted this year to have two albums chart on the Billboard 200.

Their music has received positive responses as well. The title tracks from their first mini album, 'Magnetic,' and their second mini album, 'Cherish (My Love),' ranked 133rd and 160th, respectively, on the latest Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) chart (dated November 30). Notably, 'Magnetic' has maintained a remarkable 35-week streak on this chart, showcasing its long-term popularity.

The Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) chart ranks songs based on online streaming and digital sales from over 200 countries and regions, excluding the U.S. This chart is considered a key indicator of global popularity, unlike the Billboard Hot 100, which incorporates local radio airplay.

Since their debut in March, ILLIT has consistently appeared on major Billboard charts, with 'Magnetic' making history as the first debut K-pop song to enter the Billboard Hot 100 (dated April 20) and remaining on the Global 200 for 33 consecutive weeks.

Thanks to this success, 'Magnetic' has been nominated for the Top Global K-pop Song category at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards. In just eight months since their debut, ILLIT has made a significant impact on the U.S. music scene, solidifying their reputation as a 'super rookie.'
