ILLIT Nominated for Billboard Music Awards Just 8 Months After Debut

The K-pop group ILLIT (아일릿) has made headlines by receiving a nomination for the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) just eight months after their debut. According to the list of finalists announced on November 25, 2024, ILLIT's title track "Magnetic" from their first mini-album is nominated for the Top Global K-pop Song category.

The BBMAs are recognized as one of the four major music award ceremonies in the United States, alongside the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and MTV Video Music Awards. Nominees are selected based on Billboard chart performance over the past year, which includes album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring, and social engagement.

Since their debut in March 2024, ILLIT has made significant strides in the K-pop industry, with "Magnetic" becoming the first debut song by a K-pop group to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart on April 20, 2024. The song has maintained its popularity, remaining on the global song chart for 34 consecutive weeks.

Additionally, their mini-album "SUPER REAL ME" achieved the remarkable feat of entering the Billboard 200 chart on May 11, 2024. ILLIT has established themselves as a "super rookie" by placing both their debut album and debut song on Billboard's main charts.

In less than a year since their debut, ILLIT has already made a mark at prestigious international music awards. They were previously nominated for the Best Asia Act category at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards. "Magnetic" not only entered the Billboard Hot 100 but also made history by being the first debut song by a K-pop group to chart on the UK Official Singles Top 100, where it remained for three weeks.

Moreover, ILLIT has won rookie awards at both the Japan Record Awards and the 2024 MAMA Awards, marking a significant achievement as it has been 13 years since a K-pop girl group received a rookie award at the Japan Record Awards.
