Identity of Suspect in Gruesome Murder of Female Shaman Revealed

The identity of the suspect involved in the brutal murder of a female shaman in her 40s in a commercial building in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, has been uncovered. On January 24, the investigative program 'Brave Detective 4' aired on T-Cast E Channel, featuring former KCSI Commissioner Yoon Wae-chul and Inspector Kim Jin-soo as they sought to identify the perpetrator.

Upon responding to a neighbor's report, detectives were confronted with a horrific scene where the victim had been stabbed multiple times, with her organs exposed. An autopsy revealed five stab wounds on her body, yet there were no signs of struggle, leading investigators to initially suspect a personal acquaintance.

However, no potential suspects among the victim's acquaintances could be identified. Just as the investigation seemed to stall, a crucial witness from a neighboring apartment provided a significant lead. The witness reported hearing a scream from the second-floor fortune-telling shop on the morning of the incident.

Shortly after, a man was seen descending the stairs, and the witness noted his car's license plate. This vehicle was later confirmed to be a stolen car, prompting police to identify the man as a prime suspect.

The suspect, in his early twenties, had a criminal record dating back to his teenage years, including theft and burglary, with four prior convictions. Just eight months after his release, he committed the heinous act of stealing a car and murdering the victim.

Despite issuing a search for the stolen vehicle, police were unable to track it down. While examining the suspect's phone records, detectives identified seven frequently dialed numbers, all belonging to women who claimed to be his girlfriends, met through online chats. Notably, one of these women was with him at the beach the day after the murder.

Detectives eventually located the suspect at a goshiwon (a type of low-cost housing) but discovered he had left shortly after the crime. With no further leads, the investigation team devised a plan to lure him out by posing as another woman.

This strategy proved successful, allowing them to trace the suspect's IP address. Initially denying his involvement, the suspect ultimately confessed when confronted with evidence, including fingerprints found on a lighter at the crime scene.

Struggling financially after his release, the suspect claimed he began his criminal activities after a woman he met online demanded 2 million won from him. He stated, 'I didn't intend to kill her, but I panicked and stabbed her when she screamed,' framing his actions as a crime of passion.
