Hyun Bin's 'Harbin' Surpasses 1 Million Tickets Sold in Just Two Days

'Harbin', starring Hyun Bin, has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing 1 million ticket sales within just two days of its release. As of December 25, the film has accumulated a total of 1,001,074 viewers, according to the integrated ticketing system. This rapid success places 'Harbin' on par with other popular Korean films like 'The Outlaws 2' (범죄도시2, 2022) and 'The Outlaws 4' (범죄도시4, 2024), and it has outpaced 'Avatar: The Way of Water' (아바타: 물의 길, 2022) in terms of ticket sales speed. It is now recognized as the fastest film to reach the 1 million mark among winter releases, emerging as a savior for the winter box office, which has been relatively weaker compared to the summer blockbuster season post-pandemic.

The film narrates the journey of An Jung-geun (안중근), played by Hyun Bin, as he sets out to assassinate Ito Hirobumi (이토 히로부미), the first governor-general of Korea under Japanese rule, portrayed by Lily Franky (릴리 프랭키). Set in 1909, the story follows those heading to Harbin with a singular purpose and those pursuing them. Directed by Woo Min-ho (우민호), known for works like 'Inside Men' (내부자들, 2015) and 'The Drug King' (남산의 부장들, 2020), the film also features performances from Park Jung-min (박정민), Jo Woo-jin (조우진), Lee Dong-wook (이동욱), Park Hoon (박훈), and Jeon Yeo-been (전여빈).
