Hyun Bin Reflects on His Early Audition Experiences

On December 18, actor Hyun Bin appeared as a guest on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' and shared insights about his early audition experiences in film. He described himself as 'just an ordinary person,' prompting laughter from the hosts when Jo Se-ho asked him what led him to that conclusion. Yoo Jae-suk noted that Hyun Bin tends to be quiet and doesn't pay much attention to his surroundings while exercising, to which Hyun Bin replied that he feels 'unshaken' by external factors.
Hyun Bin reminisced about his audition for the film 'That Man is Cool' (그놈은 멋있었다), calling it an unforgettable moment. He explained that it was a public audition during a time when the 'ulzzang' (얼짱) craze was at its peak, with many attractive candidates and their fans present. He humorously recalled feeling out of place, especially since he was the first to audition.
He also mentioned auditioning for 'A Wolf's Attraction' (늑대의 유혹) and discussed the impact of the drama 'My Name is Kim Sam-soon' (내 이름은 김삼순), which he credited for significantly boosting his popularity. He expressed that he didn't fully appreciate his fame at the time, reflecting, 'If I were the person I am now, I would have enjoyed it more and felt more gratitude, but it just slipped by.'
When asked what advice he would give to juniors in the same situation, Hyun Bin emphasized the importance of fully experiencing happiness and channeling that energy into future projects. He shared that his parents advised him not to get lost in the moment when he started his career, as being overly absorbed in fame could lead to a lack of appreciation for the little things and a painful sense of loss when popularity fades.
Hyun Bin concluded by stating that finding joy in the gratitude of the present and returning to his true self would be beneficial for him personally.
