Hyun Bin Hopes 'Harbin' Brings Hope Amidst Turbulent Times

Actor Hyun Bin (42) expressed his desire for his upcoming film 'Harbin' to provide hope and courage to audiences during these challenging times. In an interview on December 19, he shared behind-the-scenes insights about the action film directed by Woo Min-ho and produced by Hive Media Corp.
Set in 1909, 'Harbin' depicts a tense chase and the ensuing suspicions between those heading to Harbin for a common goal and those pursuing them. Hyun Bin portrays Ahn Jung-geun, a general in the Korean independence army.
Reflecting on the film's release amidst the political turmoil following President Yoon Suk-yeol's declaration of a state of emergency, Hyun Bin remarked, "It happened unintentionally." He emphasized the significance of the film's narration by Ahn Jung-geun, which was crafted based on historical records, including those of Ito Hirobumi. He hopes this narration will inspire hope and courage in viewers.
Hyun Bin further explained that the film's primary aim is not just to deliver a thrilling conclusion but to showcase the journey of independence fighters. He believes that while the Harbin incident did not directly lead to independence, it served as a foundation for future progress. He hopes audiences will interpret the film's message as a call to continue moving forward, rather than seeing it as an endpoint.
'Harbin' features a star-studded cast including Park Jung-min, Jo Woo-jin, Jeon Yeo-bin, Park Hoon, Yoo Jae-myung, and Lee Dong-wook, with Woo Min-ho, known for 'The Insider' and 'The Man Standing Next,' at the helm. The film is set to be released on December 24.
