Hyun Bin Expresses Love for Son Ye-jin Amidst Filming Challenges

Actor Hyun Bin (42) recently shared his heartfelt appreciation for his wife and fellow actress Son Ye-jin (42) during a press event for his upcoming action film 'Harbin' (하얼빈), directed by Woo Min-ho. On December 19, while discussing the film in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, he reflected on the emotional support he received from Son Ye-jin during the filming process.
Hyun Bin revealed, "I felt quite lonely while shooting 'Harbin', and I know my wife must have felt the same. Being actors, we understand the challenges that come with such demanding projects. After filming, she told me, 'You did well' and 'You worked hard,' which really motivated me. It was especially meaningful considering she had her own struggles after giving birth."
He continued, "Since getting married and having a child, everything has changed for me. People need to evolve. I still tread carefully when discussing my personal life, but I feel a shift in my mindset. As I grow older and experience family life, I see how I am changing. My son was born just before I started preparing for this film, and I want to tell him one day, 'When you were born, your dad was working on a significant character in our history.' I have a strong desire to make this film well, not just for myself but for him. Of course, I also want to show him my other works like 'Negotiation' (협상) and 'Crash Landing on You' (사랑의 불시착), but I think I’ll focus more on his mom's projects."
When asked about his role as a father, Hyun Bin admitted, "It's a tough question. Right now, I'm just an ordinary dad, like any other parent. I’m still figuring out what kind of father I want to be. Sometimes I think about being strict like my own father, but I also wonder if I should be more of a friend to my child. I’m still a novice dad, and I know I need to keep learning and growing."
'Harbin' is set in 1909 and follows a gripping tale of pursuit and suspicion among those heading to Harbin for a common goal. The film features a stellar cast including Park Jung-min, Jo Woo-jin, Jeon Yeo-been, Park Hoon, Yoo Jae-myung, and Lee Dong-wook, with Woo Min-ho, known for 'The Insider' (내부자들) and 'The Man Standing Next' (남산의 부장들), at the helm. The film is scheduled for release on December 24.
