Hyun Bin Expresses Gratitude for Wife Son Ye-jin on 'You Quiz on the Block'

On December 18, during an episode of tvN's You Quiz on the Block (유 퀴즈 온 더 블럭), actor Hyun Bin shared his heartfelt appreciation for his wife, fellow actress Son Ye-jin. Reflecting on his iconic role in the drama Secret Garden (시크릿 가든), Hyun Bin revealed that he still owns four tracksuits made by his stylist from that time, although they no longer fit him due to changes in his physique since then.

He reminisced about his military service, noting that he had just begun to gain popularity when he enlisted. Hyun Bin recalled feeling the impact of his rising fame when crowds gathered during filming, but he focused on his work during that time.

Discussing his time in the Marine Corps, he humorously mentioned that his fellow soldiers claimed he always smelled good and wore lip gloss, which happened to be cherry-scented. He explained that the sweetness of the scent was heightened during training, where sugary treats were scarce.

Hyun Bin reflected on how his military service allowed him to separate his work from his personal life, providing him with valuable time for self-reflection. Watching other actors' works made him eager to return to acting, reinforcing his passion for his profession.

He also shared how he and Son Ye-jin naturally began dating after working together on the hit drama Crash Landing on You (사랑의 불시착). He sent a coffee truck to her filming set as a gesture of support for her first project after their marriage, expressing his admiration for the talented people she was working with.

Hyun Bin acknowledged the challenges Son Ye-jin faced balancing her career and motherhood, expressing his empathy for her situation. He noted that after finishing filming for his own project, Harbin (하얼빈), he sensed the pressure she felt and promised to support her after her projects as well.

When asked about his reputation for perfectionism, Hyun Bin admitted that he strives for excellence in his work, understanding the lasting impact of his performances. He emphasized the responsibility he feels towards the crew and investors when carrying the title of lead actor.

He shared insights into his rigorous training regimen, stating that he often works out multiple times a day to prepare for roles, especially when action scenes are involved. Hyun Bin mentioned that during the filming of the movie The King's Wrath (역린), he opted for bodyweight exercises to achieve the right look for his character, while for the film Confidential Assignment (공조), he followed a strict weightlifting and cardio routine.

Outside of work, Hyun Bin enjoys indulging in food without restrictions, and he expressed a craving for warm noodle soup during the current chilly weather.
