'Hyperknife' Star Park Eun-bin Reflects on Her First OTT Experience with Disney+

At the 'Disney Showcase' held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, actress Park Eun-bin shared her thoughts on her debut in an OTT original series with Disney+. The event, organized by The Walt Disney Company on November 21, featured a press conference for original content from the Asia-Pacific region, where the production teams and lead actors of various Disney+ Korea originals, including 'Trigger', 'Fine', 'Hyperknife', 'Knock Off', and 'Nine Puzzle', discussed their projects.

During the press conference for 'Hyperknife', Park Eun-bin, along with veteran actor Seol Kyung-gu and director Kim Jung-hyun, spoke about the series, which follows a doctor who resorts to illegal surgeries to make a living. The story unfolds as the protagonist, Jeong Se-ok, loses her medical license due to a conflict with her mentor. The narrative explores the complex relationship between Se-ok and her mentor, Choi Deok-hee, who returns to her life after ruining his own career. Park Eun-bin, who gained immense popularity from her role in 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' (이상한 변호사 우영우), plays the role of the surgeon Jeong Se-ok, while Seol Kyung-gu portrays her mentor Choi Deok-hee. Directed by Kim Jung-hyun, 'Hyperknife' is set to premiere in March 2025.

Despite being a prolific actress, this marks Park Eun-bin's first venture into an OTT original. She expressed, "Recently, as I have experienced various projects, I feel that meeting a work is somewhat predetermined by fate. I realize that a connection must be made for me to fully engage with it. There are numerous factors and variables that contribute to the idea of fate or connection. Ultimately, the projects I take on feel like encounters that define the direction I am heading in."

She added, "I am thrilled to be working on my first OTT original with Disney+. It’s wonderful to be here in Singapore and to have this international meeting. I’m also happy to meet some of my favorite Disney characters. I hope everyone continues to support Disney+ and especially looks forward to 'Hyperknife'."

The 'Disney Showcase', which took place over two days starting November 20, allowed attendees to preview upcoming projects from The Walt Disney Company. Approximately 500 journalists, influencers, and Disney partners from 12 Asia-Pacific countries, including South Korea, Singapore, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Australia, were present at the event.

'Hyperknife', featuring the performances of Park Eun-bin and Seol Kyung-gu, is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in March 2025.
