The South Korean government has announced a 5% increase in the childcare subsidies for infants and toddlers aged 0 to 2 years, effective from July. The Ministry of Education revealed this update on July 9, following the approval of the 2025 second supplementary budget by the National Assembly on July 4. Since 2013, the government has provided full financial support for childcare fees for children aged 0 to 5 years, distributing funds monthly to guardians through the National Happiness Card.

With this increase, the monthly support for 0-year-olds will rise from 540,000 KRW to 567,000 KRW, for 1-year-olds from 475,000 KRW to 500,000 KRW, and for 2-year-olds from 394,000 KRW to 414,000 KRW. The Ministry of Education stated that it will promptly execute the allocated budget of 113.1 billion KRW within the year.
