HYBE Continues Legal Battle Against Online Trolls

HYBE is intensifying its legal efforts against online trolls who have been targeting its artists. On December 27, the company shared updates through the official fan community platform Weverse regarding ongoing legal actions to protect the rights of its artists, including BTS (방탄소년단), TOMORROW X TOGETHER (투모로우바이투게더), SEVENTEEN (세븐틴), ENHYPEN (엔하이픈), LE SSERAFIM (르세라핌), NewJeans (뉴진스), and others.

The artists' management teams reported that they are actively pursuing legal action against individuals responsible for defamation, insults, sexual harassment, malicious slander, and the use of derogatory terms. BTS's management noted that several defendants have been fined up to 2 million KRW, with some facing additional penalties for continuing to post harmful content despite previous convictions. One individual was fined a total of 5 million KRW for posting hundreds of defamatory comments on their blog.

Additionally, ongoing lawsuits include claims for damages related to the so-called 'anti-fan camps' and cases involving the leaking of personal information and stalking. The management emphasized their commitment to ensuring that legal actions are taken against those infringing on the artists' rights.

Ador, the agency behind NewJeans, reported that a final ruling from the Supreme Court confirmed fines for individuals who created and distributed fake pornographic images of the artists. They also mentioned that several defendants have been fined for posting severe insults. Furthermore, police investigations are underway for anonymous malicious posts.

Each agency is particularly vigilant against rumors related to music releases. TOMORROW X TOGETHER's management stated they are aware of malicious rumors regarding the artists' albums and music, and they plan to respond strictly. SEVENTEEN's team also indicated they are gathering evidence against those spreading false information about the artists' album performance.

Tours' management confirmed that a guilty verdict was reached against individuals who spread false rumors about album sales, resulting in fines. They reiterated their stance against any unfounded rumors regarding reverse marketing and album sales.

LE SSERAFIM's agency reported that most of the defendants from a large-scale lawsuit filed in May have been identified, and legal proceedings are ongoing. AILET's management stated they are actively collecting evidence against malicious posts, even if deleted, and will continue to monitor and take legal action against such content.

The agencies warned that they will not show leniency or settle with those who post harmful content, reaffirming their dedication to protecting the rights of their artists. As HYBE continues its rigorous approach against online harassment, the effectiveness of these measures in eradicating trolls remains to be seen.
