HYBE Artists Dominate 2024 Billboard Music Awards Nominations

The HYBE family made a significant impact at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), showcasing their global popularity. The list of finalists was revealed on November 25, 2024, and it featured numerous artists from the HYBE label.
Leading the charge was BTS (방탄소년단), with Jimin earning nominations for 'Top Global K-Pop Song' and 'Top Global K-Pop Artist' for his solo track 'Huh' from his second solo album, 'Muse.' The song debuted at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has maintained its presence on the chart for 17 consecutive weeks. Jungkook (정국) is also in the running for two consecutive years in the 'Top Global K-Pop Song' category with his solo single '3D' and the title track 'Standing Next to You' from his album 'Golden.' Both tracks reached number 5 on the Hot 100, contributing to Jungkook's six nominations across various categories, including 'Top Selling Song,' 'Top K-Pop Album,' 'Top Song Sales Artist,' and 'Top Global K-Pop Artist.' Notably, this marks the first time a K-Pop solo artist has been nominated for 'Top Song Sales Artist.'
Since winning the 'Top Social Artist' award in 2017, BTS has accumulated a total of 12 trophies, including 'Top Duo/Group' and 'Top Selling Song' awards. In 2023, Jungkook added to the collection with a win for 'Top Global K-Pop Song' for his single 'Seven.'
SEVENTEEN (세븐틴) received a nomination for 'Top K-Pop Touring Artist' after successfully completing their world tour 'Follow,' which spanned 20 shows across nine cities from July of last year to January of this year. They filled major stadiums in Korea and Japan with their 'Follow Again' concerts, showcasing their prowess as performers. They also ranked highest among K-Pop artists in Billboard's Boxscore annual report for the 'Top Tours' category.
TOMORROW X TOGETHER (투모로우바이투게더), who were nominated for 'Top Global K-Pop Artist' and 'Top K-Pop Album' last year, have shown growth this year with a nomination in the 'Top K-Pop Album' category.
ENHYPEN (엔하이픈) is nominated for both 'Top Global K-Pop Artist' and 'Top K-Pop Touring Artist.' LE SSERAFIM (르세라핌) earned a nomination for 'Top Global K-Pop Song' with their first English digital single 'Perfect Night.' Additionally, ILY:1 (아일릿) made a remarkable entry into the nominations with their debut mini-album title track 'Magnetic,' just eight months after their debut.
However, the absence of NewJeans (뉴진스) from the nominations raised eyebrows. NewJeans made headlines as the first K-Pop girl group to enter the Billboard Hot 100 just six months after their debut and were selected as performers for the 2023 BBMAs. Although they did not chart on the Hot 100 or Billboard 200 this year, they had several tracks, including 'How Sweet,' 'Bubblegum,' 'Supernatural,' and 'Right Now,' charting on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global 200 (excluding the U.S.). Their exclusion from the nominations was seen as a disappointment.
The Billboard Music Awards is one of the three major music award ceremonies in the U.S., alongside the Grammy Awards and the American Music Awards. This year's nominations were based on data from album and song sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring, and social engagement from October 13, 2023, to October 10, 2024, along with Billboard chart performance.
