Hwasa Performs 'I Only Know Love' in a Vineyard During Romantic Busking on 'I Am a Singer'
The KBS2 music travel reality show 'I Am a Singer in Spain' delivered a charming busking experience set against stunning natural landscapes. On November 23, the show featured performances by Hwasa (화사), So Hyang (소향), Henry (헨리), Ahn Shin-ae (안신애), Cloud (구름), and Jairo (자이로) during their fourth day in Mallorca, showcasing unforgettable live performances from a unique vineyard to iconic K-pop hits. This episode saw a rise in viewership ratings, with the songs performed dominating the Melon real-time search rankings from first to fifth place, highlighting their popularity.
The cast visited a renowned winery in Mallorca that has been family-owned for over 170 years, participating in the grape harvest for wine production. The members were delighted by the sweetness of the grapes, quickly filling boxes to share in the joy of the harvest.
An impromptu performance took place among the grapevines, where Ahn Shin-ae sang BIBI's 'Night and Day,' and Hwasa delivered her rendition of Shim Soo-bong's 'I Only Know Love' with her unique vocal style. Hwasa expressed her enjoyment, stating, "This was the best version of 'I Only Know Love' I've ever performed." The segment concluded with a heartwarming rendition of 'You Are My Sunshine' that showcased the harmonious blend of all the members' voices.
Following the performances, the group explored the wine-making process and participated in a tasting session. They marveled at the various types of wine aging in familiar oak barrels, metal, and cement tanks, as well as a unique gallery featuring labels designed by artists from around the world.
Busking continued in the picturesque square in front of the Valldemossa Monastery, where Chopin once spent winters composing music. Henry captivated the audience with a romantic violin performance of the drama 'Firebird's' OST 'Fate,' followed by a lively collaboration of So Hyang, Hwasa, and Ahn Shin-ae performing Nam Jin's trot classic 'With You.' Hwasa showcased her jazzy vocals with 'Orange Colored Sky' and 'When You Come Into My Heart,' while So Hyang impressed once again with her powerful rendition of IU's 'Love Wins All.'
The stage was set for Henry and Jairo, who performed 'Wake Me Up' with free-spirited violin and guitar melodies. Henry's energetic vocals elevated the atmosphere, and the duo's seamless collaboration added to the excitement. Ahn Shin-ae, who completed a duet with So Hyang on 'Make You Feel My Love,' expressed her emotional connection, saying, "Singing with my sister brings me an indescribable comfort. Every moment is so precious," as she shed tears, revealing their deep bond.
The fourth day of busking on 'I Am a Singer in Spain' attracted numerous local fans and spectators, who responded with enthusiastic singing in Korean, tears, and warm applause throughout the performances. So Hyang reflected on the power of K-pop, stating, "I believe we can express stories that words cannot convey through our songs. It feels like we are singing for healing." The members collectively expressed their sentiments, saying, "Every day feels too short. Every minute and second is valuable," while Jairo noted, "I feel like my musical direction has shifted significantly. This is a turning point that will never happen again."
