Hwang Jung-min and Kim Go-eun Win at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards

The film 'Seoul's Spring' (서울의 봄), directed by Kim Sung-soo, took home the Best Picture award at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards held on November 29, 2024. The movie 'The Burial' (파묘) emerged as the biggest winner of the night, securing four awards including Best Director for Jang Jae-hyun.

At the ceremony held at KBS Hall in Yeouido, 'Seoul's Spring' also won Best Actor for Hwang Jung-min and Best Editing. This marks Hwang's third win for Best Actor at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, following his previous victories for 'You Are My Destiny' (너는 내 운명) in 2005 and 'The New World' (신세계) in 2013. 'The Burial' also earned Kim Go-eun the Best Actress award, along with accolades for Cinematography and Art Direction.

During his acceptance speech, Jang Jae-hyun became emotional as he expressed his gratitude, stating, "I want to share this honor with my senior actor Choi Min-sik who worked alongside me on 'The Burial.'"

The Best Supporting Actor award went to Jung Hae-in for 'Veteran 2' (베테랑2), while the Best Supporting Actress award was claimed by Lee Sang-hee for 'Rogiwan' (로기완). The Best New Actor award was presented to Noh Sang-hyun for 'Love Law in Big Cities' (대도시의 사랑법), and the Best New Actress award went to Park Joo-hyun for 'Drive' (드라이브). The Best New Director award was given to Jo Hyun-cheol for 'You and I' (너와 나), who also won for Best Screenplay.

Jung Woo-sung, who faced scrutiny over a controversy regarding an extramarital child, presented the award for Most Popular Film, which was won by 'Seoul's Spring.' He addressed the audience, saying, "I hope my personal issues do not tarnish the film's reputation. I sincerely apologize to everyone who has supported me and may feel disappointed. I will take all criticism and continue to fulfill my responsibilities as a father."

This year, actress Han Ji-min made her debut as the new MC for the Blue Dragon Film Awards, succeeding Kim Hye-soo, who hosted the event in previous years. Han Ji-min, who won the Best Actress award in 2018 for 'Miss Baek' (미쓰백), co-hosted the event with actor Lee Je-hoon.
