Hwang Jung-eum Finalizes Divorce from Lee Yong-don

Actress Hwang Jung-eum has successfully concluded her divorce proceedings with former professional golfer and businessman Lee Yong-don. Following the family court's mediation decision, her divorce has been officially recognized. Hwang's agency, Y1 Entertainment, announced on May 26 that the divorce case has been amicably resolved, leading to the anticipated lifting of a property seizure order amounting to 1.8 billion KRW, which was initiated by her ex-husband's side.
The agency clarified that both parties had taken measures to secure their assets during the divorce process, and with the case now settled, all related property seizures will be lifted. They also expressed regret for not being able to provide detailed explanations due to the timing of the news release.
Hwang Jung-eum married Lee in 2016 and they have two sons together. Although they began divorce proceedings in 2020, they reconciled briefly before Hwang filed for divorce again in February of last year, citing allegations of infidelity.
In a separate legal matter, Hwang has been indicted for allegedly embezzling approximately 4.3 billion KRW from a family corporation she fully owns, with around 4.2 billion KRW reportedly invested in cryptocurrency. During the first court hearing, her legal team acknowledged the charges, stating that Hwang intended to grow the company through these investments. They requested leniency, noting that she has already repaid part of the losses by selling some cryptocurrency and plans to cover the remaining amount through property sales.
