Hwang Dong-hyuk Discusses Release Timeline for Squid Game Season 3

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of the hit Netflix series Squid Game (오징어게임), recently shared insights about the anticipated release of Season 3. In an interview with Variety on December 26, he explained that the original narrative for Seasons 2 and 3 was conceived as a single, extensive storyline. Initially intended to span 8 to 9 episodes, the story expanded to over 10 episodes, prompting Hwang to split it into two seasons. He aimed to find a suitable conclusion for Season 2 before transitioning into Season 3, allowing for a moment of resolution for the character Gi-hun (이정재). Hwang also hinted that the announcement for Season 3's release date would come shortly after Season 2 premieres, which is expected to be in the summer or fall of next year. He assured fans that each remaining episode would improve, featuring a more expansive and intense storyline, and encouraged viewers to stay tuned until the end.
