Hong Kong Star Pang Lik-shin Marries Maple, Survivor of JMS Abuse

Hong Kong actor Pang Lik-shin (방력신) has tied the knot with Maple (정수정), who bravely revealed her experience of sexual assault by the leader of the Christian Gospel Mission (JMS), Jung Myung-seok (정명석), in the Netflix original series, I Am God: The Betrayer of God (나는 신이다:신이 배신한 사람). On February 14, 2025, Pang announced their marriage on social media, stating, "We got married here. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!"
Maple gained attention for her courageous testimony in the 2023 documentary, where she disclosed the traumatic events she endured. Although the show edited out explicit details, it still conveyed the gravity of her experience, shocking viewers. Jung Myung-seok was sentenced to 17 years in prison last month for charges including attempted rape and sexual assault.
In a press conference, Maple expressed relief, saying, "I am glad that no real victims will come forward in the future. I have struggled mentally in Hong Kong due to this, and the news made it difficult for me to find work, leaving my future uncertain. But now that everything is over, I believe I can start anew."
Professor Kim Do-hyung (김도형) from Dankook University, who supported Maple, shared that the couple met months before the documentary's release and provided each other with understanding and encouragement throughout their ordeal. He noted that Pang was a source of strength for Maple during her toughest moments, including when she considered dropping her lawsuit against Jung.
Kim remarked, "Maple has thrown everything into this fight, putting Jung and his accomplices behind bars. Now, she is returning to her daily life and has found a wonderful husband, creating a beautiful family. It feels like a modern-day fairy tale." He also celebrated their union, mentioning that he and the show's producer danced joyfully in honor of their marriage.
