Highlight Apologizes for Fan Club Data Breach

The agency for the K-pop group Highlight, Around Us Entertainment, has issued a late apology regarding the leak of personal information from some members of their official fan club, Light 5th Generation. On May 21, the company expressed sincere regret over the incident, which occurred during the application process for participation in the pre-recording of SBS Inkigayo on May 2, 2025.
According to the agency, during the upload of the final list for participant guidance, an original file containing sensitive information was mistakenly made public. The error was identified immediately, and efforts were made to delete and replace the file, but not before some personal data was exposed.
The agency acknowledged their failure to act swiftly after realizing the situation, which caused distress to those affected. They urged anyone who suspects their information has been misused to report it via a designated email. Additionally, they advised fans to remain vigilant against potential secondary damages such as identity theft, phishing emails, spam, and malware distribution.
Highlight's management emphasized their commitment to improving internal protocols and enhancing data protection measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. They reiterated their deep apologies for the breach of personal security and the anxiety it caused to their fans.
