Henry Reveals How He Debuted in Korea

On the March 10 episode of Channel A's 'Best Friends Documentary: Four-Person Table' (절친 토큐멘터리 4인용식탁), singer Henry shared the story behind his debut in Korea. He described Kim Soo-ro as a big brother, leader, and teacher, while Kim expressed his affection for Henry, saying he wants to give more than he receives. Sam Hammington called Henry a kind-hearted and gentle friend.
Henry described Sayuri as someone with even more energy than himself, noting her warmth and intelligence. Sayuri remarked that Henry has a childlike purity and innocence.
When Sayuri asked Henry about how he debuted, he admitted he wasn't particularly interested in auditions at first, but his friends insisted he should try. "I was quite popular, to say the least," he said, adding that he performed Kim Bum-soo's 'I Miss You' because it was suggested that singing Korean songs would help him stand out.
Henry mentioned that he was the first in the world to combine popping dance with the violin. After his performance of 'I Miss You,' he received a callback, which he found surprising. He recalled his father's skepticism about him becoming a celebrity in Korea, leading him to secretly go with his mother. Upon visiting the company, he felt a positive vibe.
Reflecting on his debut in a group, Henry admitted he wasn't satisfied, as there were limitations to the music he could showcase. He once sang only 3 to 4 seconds of a song. Eventually, he decided to give it all up and move to the United States, which he described as one of the scariest moments of his life. People around him questioned his decision, urging him to keep working and build a fanbase. Looking back, he felt they were right. He learned a lot about songwriting during that time and created his solo album, which he presented to Lee Soo-man, asking for his support.
