'Harbin' Takes the Box Office Crown on Opening Day

The film 'Harbin' has made a significant impact during the Christmas holiday, attracting over 800,000 viewers and securing the top spot at the box office. On December 25, the movie recorded 847,819 admissions, bringing its total audience count to 1.25 million just two days after its release. The film is expected to maintain its strong performance through the weekend. As of 5:30 AM on December 26, 'Harbin' leads in advance ticket sales with approximately 250,000 pre-booked tickets, outpacing the second-place film, 'Bogotá: The Last Chance Land,' by over 200,000 tickets (around 34,000). Directed by Woo Min-ho, known for 'Inside Men' (내부자들) and 'The Man Standing Next' (남산의 부장들), 'Harbin' dramatizes the historical event where independence activist Ahn Jung-geun assassinated Ito Hirobumi, the first governor-general of Korea. The film explores the struggles faced by Ahn and his fellow independence fighters, highlighting Ahn's personal turmoil throughout the mission. Hyun Bin stars as Ahn Jung-geun, alongside Park Jung-min, Jo Woo-jin, Lee Dong-wook, Park Hoon, and Jeon Yeo-been. In the current box office rankings, 'Firefighters' is in second place with 193,335 admissions (totaling 2.93 million), followed by 'Moana 2' with 129,274 admissions (totaling 3.22 million), 'Crayon Shin-chan: Dinosaur Diary' with 121,372 admissions (totaling 410,000), and 'Mufasa: The Lion King' with 117,067 admissions (totaling 470,000).
