Hani from EXID Opens Up About Her Struggles and Embraces the Courage to Be Disliked

Hani, the former member of EXID, has candidly shared her feelings for the first time since a recent controversy, declaring her intention to embrace the 'courage to be disliked.' In an episode of MBN's 'Oh Eun-young's Stay' aired on July 14, she discussed the theme of 'sensitivity' and revealed her hidden thoughts. Hani admitted, "I tend to be quite sensitive to others' feelings," and expressed her desire to let go of the anxiety that comes from feeling responsible for others' emotions.
She shared, "Since childhood, I've been good at sensing the emotions of those around me. Even when it's not my responsibility, I've developed a habit of trying to take on that burden. I felt uneasy if I wasn't paying attention to others' feelings, but I want to release that feeling now."
Hani expressed her wish to distance herself from others' emotions and focus more on herself. She stated, "This appearance on the show is a declaration from within me. I want to try to have the courage to be disliked now." When fellow guest Yoo Se-yoon commented that she seemed more relaxed in her posture, Hani laughed and admitted, "I was worried about how others might feel, so I was conscious of my posture, but today I want to be brave."
She also mentioned that participating in the program made her realize that change begins when she decides to let go of her worries. Hearing Dr. Oh Eun-young say, 'It's okay to live that way' gave her strength, and she felt as if her small worries and doubts were gradually disappearing.
Hani's heartfelt confession carries even more weight as it marks her first public reflection since the incident involving her partner Yang Jae-woong at the hospital last year. After facing a hiatus and dealing with negative comments, Hani has focused on a journey of self-discovery during her time away from the public eye.
Once unable to ride public transport comfortably due to fear of judgment, she shared, "I used to pretend to be composed, worrying that someone might laugh at me for failing." However, she is now determined to live as the person she wants to be, rather than who others expect her to be. The first step in this journey is embracing the courage to be disliked.
