Han So-hee's Mother Receives Suspended Sentence for Illegal Gambling Operations

Han So-hee's mother has been sentenced to a year in prison, suspended for two years, for her involvement in establishing multiple illegal gambling venues. On December 25, the Chuncheon District Court's Wonju branch, presided over by Chief Judge Kim Do-hyung, found Shin (55) guilty of operating seven gambling establishments across Gangwon's Wonju, Gyeongbuk's Gyeongju, and Ulsan from January to August 2022. Shin reportedly received access codes from members of an illegal gambling site via Telegram, which she used to set up these venues. She allegedly collaborated with a frontman to run adult PC gaming centers and conspired with operators to facilitate her illegal activities. This is not Shin's first offense; she was previously fined 5 million won in 2021 for violating the Game Industry Promotion Act. Judge Kim noted that while the exact profits from her operations were not clearly documented, it is likely that she gained significant financial benefits, taking into account her prior conviction.
