Han Ga-in Surprises Husband Yeon Jung-hoon with Heartfelt Birthday Celebration on YouTube

On November 20, 2024, actress Han Ga-in showcased her cooking skills to celebrate her husband Yeon Jung-hoon's birthday. The special event was featured on her YouTube channel, '자유부인 한가인', in a video titled 'What Happens When the Beautiful Han Ga-in Tries Cooking? (Not Her Usual Thing, Husband's Reaction)'.

In the video, Han Ga-in expressed her desire to do something special for her husband, stating, "I want to try something I don't usually do. Tomorrow is my husband's birthday, and I want to prepare a small event for him. In the 19 years we've been married, he has never done anything special for my birthday, so I thought I would make some delicious food for him."

She revealed that while Yeon Jung-hoon was at the gym, she planned to make a creamy risotto topped with chicken thighs, thinking it would be a good source of protein for him after his workout.

As she prepared the ingredients for the risotto, Han Ga-in admitted that cooking was not her forte, saying, "This feels very unfamiliar to me today. I usually take care of the kids and prefer cleaning over cooking. However, as a mother, I do cook for my children occasionally."

Despite her reservations, she impressively prepared a delicious-looking seaweed soup and braised short ribs for her husband. During the cooking process, the production team recalled a previous meeting where Yeon Jung-hoon had jokingly asked Han Ga-in to learn how to cook. She playfully responded, "He always tries to push me in that direction. I started this to break free from being tied down, and if I become good at cooking, what will happen?"

In a surprising twist, Han Ga-in pulled out some spicy chicken sauce, recalling a past incident where she had eaten spicy chicken ramen by the Han River and ended up in the emergency room that night. "I found the spicy sauce delicious and thought it would be great to use today, so this is my secret ingredient," she said, adding it to the risotto. When the crew expressed shock, she reassured them, "Don't be surprised. It will taste good. I added the spicy sauce to balance the creaminess of the risotto."

However, the chicken she cooked with the sauce ended up burnt. Laughing, she referred to it as "chicken from hell" and quickly cut off the charred parts. With only 30 minutes left before Yeon Jung-hoon returned, she grilled a new batch of chicken and presented both her homemade risotto and a delivery version for comparison.

When Yeon Jung-hoon finally saw the birthday spread, he was visibly moved. He shared, "Before we got married, I used to celebrate my birthday more. I often forget my own birthday now. It seems like YouTube is helping Han Ga-in reinvent herself. Thank you, everyone!"

As they sat down to eat, the production team inquired about birthday gifts. Han Ga-in replied, "When he needs something, I buy it for him, but if not, I just give him cash. We usually exchange around 1 million won each."
