Ha Yeon-soo Addresses Retirement Rumors on Radio Star

On December 11, actress Ha Yeon-soo made her return to public broadcasting after three years on MBC's entertainment show Radio Star (라디오스타). During her appearance, she discussed her recent success in Japanese dramas.

Ha explained her decision to join the show, stating, "There’s no profit-sharing structure with my agency, and I don’t earn anything after covering my activity costs. People questioned why I would appear on Radio Star, but I was convinced that it’s a long-running program in Korea, and appearing on it could boost my fame."

She also shared how her journey in Japan began, saying, "I wasn’t active in Korea, but I flew here because of Radio Star. Initially, I was looking into studying art in Japan, where the tuition for a private art school was around 15 million won per year. I realized I could pursue acting instead after researching agencies."

However, her early career was marred by various controversies and misunderstandings. Ha recounted, "I participated in a gravure photoshoot for a manga magazine, which led to 50 articles being published in Korea. I felt very wronged by the situation." Kim Gu-ra, a fellow guest, remarked that it might have led people to think she was only pursuing such work in Japan.

Ha expressed her frustration, saying, "It was sensationalized, and I wanted to clarify that it wasn’t true."

Regarding the retirement rumors, comedian Jang Do-yeon asked her about it. Ha responded, "I was planning to study abroad in Japan and dislike being in the spotlight, so I deleted my profile. I thought it would be a light decision, but it caused quite a stir."

Her candid remarks surprised the audience, shedding light on her current situation and future plans.
