Ha Jung-woo Opens Up About Directing Challenges on MBC's 'The Manager'

Actor Ha Jung-woo shared his thoughts on the challenges of directing during his appearance on MBC's entertainment program 'The Manager' (전지적 참견 시점) on March 22. Alongside co-stars Park Byung-eun and Lee Dong-hwi, Ha discussed his experiences in the film 'Lobby'.
When host Lee Young-ja pointed out that Ha has not featured his father in any of his three works, fellow host Jeon Hyun-moo asked if he was dissatisfied with his father's acting. Ha responded thoughtfully, expressing concern that working with his father might feel uncomfortable due to having grown up watching him act. He noted, "It’s easier to cast children than parents in a project."
Ha also reflected on the solitary nature of directing, stating, "As a director, it feels like you have no allies. You have to make many decisions and often feel alone. My main focus is on the lead actors. When I take on a lead role, I want to support other directors as well."
He reminisced about auditioning for 'Sex is Zero' with Park Byung-eun, where he did not get the role, and also auditioning for 'Silmido', where he faced the same outcome.
This candid discussion highlights Ha Jung-woo's introspective approach to his dual roles as an actor and director.
