Gwangsoo's Words Hurt Oksoon on 'I Am SOLO' Episode

In the latest episode of ENA and SBS Plus's 'I Am SOLO' aired on December 11, 2024, contestant Oksoon from Season 23 was brought to tears by Gwangsoo's comments. During the episode, the male contestants selected partners for one-on-one dates, marking the first time in the show's history that all members participated without the usual solo dining format, surprising everyone involved.

Oksoon was chosen by Gwangsoo, but her expression soured upon realizing he was not her preferred partner. Gwangsoo's remark, 'I thought about not choosing for about three seconds,' left Oksoon disappointed. After returning to the women's dorm, she sighed and expressed her feelings, stating, 'I never begged anyone to like me.' Fellow contestant Defconn sympathized, saying, 'Being with Gwangsoo makes me feel like my self-esteem is diminishing.'

In an interview with the production team, Oksoon questioned why she had to hear such comments, reflecting, 'Did anyone ask me to be chosen? I feel a bit exhausted. I know everything, but it’s tiring.'

Meanwhile, Gwangsoo shared his thoughts with the other male contestants, admitting, 'If the other person doesn’t like me, I get hurt too, so I think I have a defense mechanism.' He also shed tears, saying, 'If Oksoon hadn’t come out, I don’t think I would have liked anyone.' Defconn pointed out the importance of considering how others feel when sharing personal thoughts, noting that Gwangsoo's self-centered approach was problematic.
