Golden Disc Awards Cancels Live Broadcast in Mourning for Plane Crash Victims

The Golden Disc Awards has announced the cancellation of its live broadcast in light of the recent tragic plane crash. On December 31, the awards committee expressed their condolences via official social media, stating, "We extend our deepest sympathies to the victims and their families of the plane accident."

In a show of solidarity with the grieving nation, the Golden Disc Awards will replace the live broadcast of the 39th Golden Disc Awards, originally scheduled for January 4 and 5, 2025, with a pre-recorded version. The specific broadcast dates will be announced later.

Additionally, the red carpet event planned for the same day has been canceled, and details regarding ticket adjustments will be provided through the ticket purchasing outlets. The committee reiterated their heartfelt condolences, wishing peace for the victims and offering sincere comfort to their families.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the accident occurred on December 29 at 9:03 AM when a Jeju Air flight 7C2216 from Bangkok attempted to land at Muan International Airport and collided with the runway's outer wall. Out of the 181 passengers on board, 179 tragically lost their lives. The government has declared a national mourning period until midnight on January 4.
