Go Ji-yong Addresses Health Concerns on 'Salim Namja 2'

On the May 17 episode of KBS2's Salim Namja 2 (살림하는 남자들2), Go Ji-yong, a former member of the popular boy band Sechs Kies (젝스키스), opened up about his recent health issues. After debuting in 1997 and gaining fame as a 'flower boy idol', Go Ji-yong has since stepped away from the entertainment industry to lead a more private life. However, he recently sparked health concerns after appearing noticeably thinner.

During the broadcast, fellow member Eun Ji-won expressed his worries, stating, "It didn't look like a diet; he seemed unwell." The production team reached out to Go Ji-yong, who shared his health status directly. He revealed, "I was diagnosed with decreased liver function," and mentioned that he had been hospitalized two years ago due to a sudden spike in liver enzymes. Standing at 180 cm, he had lost weight down to 64 kg, which prompted him to notice changes in his body.

Go Ji-yong shared that both his mother and doctor were alarmed, leading to a recommendation for complete abstinence from alcohol. He has since refrained from drinking for six months. Eun Ji-won also noted that Go Ji-yong had previously mentioned drinking often due to work commitments, further raising concerns about his health.

Currently, Go Ji-yong is making lifestyle changes to recover his health and reassured fans by stating, "I am focusing on my health and recovering now." While he has shifted his focus from broadcasting to family and business, his recent appearance on the show delighted fans who were happy to see him again.
