Go Hyun-jung Reflects on Love in Her 20s: 'Life Doesn't Always Go as Planned'

Actress Go Hyun-jung recently shared her experiences of falling in love during her 20s, which led her to consider stepping away from her acting career to get married. It is widely speculated that the love she referred to was with her ex-husband, Jeong Yong-jin, the chairman of Shinsegae Group, whom she married in 1995 at the age of 24.

In an appearance on the tvN variety show 'You Quiz on the Block' on the 27th, Go reflected on her 20s, stating, "I actually wanted to study photography abroad. I saved up money for it because I thought I didn't fit into the entertainment industry. But life never goes as we plan."

She continued, "I had no idea how enjoyable love could be. I fell head over heels. Back then, the term 'endorphin' didn't even exist, but I found that being in love allowed me to work through the night."

Go described how love profoundly impacted her 20s, saying, "Love came rushing in and colored my entire decade. It is deep and doesn't come around often."

She revealed that she was in a relationship while filming 'Sandglass' (모래시계), expressing that acting felt more like a job at that time. "I even thought that acting was a hindrance to my relationship," she added.

Go also mentioned that she had contemplated quitting acting to get married. After the show 'Sandglass' gained popularity, she received feedback from Korean Americans who watched it on video, which moved her to tears. "The overwhelming response after the broadcast was something a performer rarely experiences, and I didn't realize its value and significance at the time. I didn't want to feel it too much," she said.

Go Hyun-jung divorced Jeong Yong-jin in 2003.
