Go Hyun-jung Opens Up About Aging and Family on 'You Quiz on the Block'

In a heartfelt appearance on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (유퀴즈 온 더 블럭) aired on November 27, 2024, actress Go Hyun-jung shared her personal journey and reflections on aging. This marked her first talk show appearance in 15 years, and host Yoo Jae-suk expressed excitement, noting the mutual nervousness between them.

Go Hyun-jung, who first gained fame as Miss Korea at the age of 19, reminisced about her early days. She shared, "My mother was quite fashionable. She used to visit a hair salon in Myeongdong, and I wanted to break free from my long hair, which was down to my waist. I followed her to the salon, and the owner asked if I had ever considered becoming Miss Korea. I thought, why not give it a try?" This moment led to her debut in the entertainment industry.

While balancing her acting career with university studies, Go revealed her aspirations: "I had a dream. My younger sibling was studying abroad, and I wanted to save money to pursue photography studies overseas. I was saving up for my tuition. At that time, I thought the entertainment industry wasn't for me; I viewed it as a job and worked hard. But life doesn't always go as planned, and I ended up falling in love."

Reflecting on her experiences with love, she admitted, "I didn't realize how enjoyable dating could be. I was completely swept away. I thought I could work all night and still be happy. It felt like everything was going my way."

Now active on social media, Go Hyun-jung expressed her desire to communicate openly. "I see this opportunity as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to speak. I want to say that I will live my life to the fullest. I'm reevaluating my career as an actress, almost like starting over. I realize I may have been rude at times, but that was never my intention," she said cautiously.

She also addressed the changes that come with aging, stating, "I feel like I’m experiencing aging in various ways. My face has changed. However, I want to continue working as an actress who doesn’t lose touch with the times. I want to convey this sincerity. I worry that my social media presence might burden my children, but I don’t want to impose any pressure on them. I simply want to show that I’m living my life well. I want to give back the love I’ve received from the public," she said, tearing up during the conversation.
