(G)I-DLE Shares Insights on Contract Renewal and Revenue Distribution with CUBE Entertainment

(G)I-DLE recently opened up about their contract renewal with CUBE Entertainment, indirectly touching on the revenue distribution during a cooking segment on the YouTube channel 'Pixid'. In the episode titled 'The Spicy Recipe Star! Cooking Show of 8-Year-Old Idols Who Took a Jab at CUBE After Renewal', member Jeon So-yeon asked fellow member Woo-gi if she was aware that the renewal was announced during their award acceptance speech. Woo-gi humorously replied that she had no idea, which led to laughter among the group.

Last November, during the '2024 Melon Music Awards', Jeon So-yeon announced that all members of (G)I-DLE had renewed their contracts with CUBE Entertainment after winning the 'Record of the Year' award, while also tearfully assuring fans that they would not disband.

When asked about her emotional reaction to winning the award, Woo-gi explained, "I cried because when we win, they play our song. I was surprised to hear 'Neverland', which I wrote, and it reminded me of the struggles we faced over the past seven years."

Jeon So-yeon then inquired about Woo-gi's thoughts on her acceptance speech, to which Woo-gi responded, "I thought So-yeon was really cool. In fact, we signed the renewal right before going on stage." She revealed that they were late to the awards because they were finalizing the contract in their room.

Jeon So-yeon further asked if the terms of the renewal were satisfactory, and Woo-gi admitted, "I did look at the revenue distribution. But honestly, I think it’s important. We need to consider our future activities."

As they prepared a dish, Woo-gi mentioned that she didn't have a specific ratio for the Lao Gan Ma sauce, prompting Jeon So-yeon to remind her that she usually emphasizes the importance of ratios. Woo-gi joked about creating a sauce based on their revenue distribution, laughing, "I can’t believe we’re revealing this here!"

They began mixing the Lao Gan Ma sauce, representing (G)I-DLE, with soy sauce, symbolizing CUBE's contract. Woo-gi poured in a generous amount of soy sauce before adding a bit of Lao Gan Ma. Jeon So-yeon commented, "Is this us? It seems a bit much," while Woo-gi insisted on adding just a little more. Jeon So-yeon cautioned against it, but Woo-gi playfully continued, saying, "Just a bit more, it’s my wish!" They concluded by measuring the sauce, humorously dubbing it the 'secret of (G)I-DLE's contract renewal'.
