G-Dragon to Star in New Variety Show 'Good Day' on Disney+
K-pop icon G-Dragon (지드래곤) is set to debut his first solo variety show titled 'Good Day' (굿데이), which will also be available on the global streaming platform Disney+. The announcement was made on January 18, revealing that the show will air on MBC in South Korea while being streamed on Disney+ for international audiences.
'Good Day' marks G-Dragon's first fixed appearance in a variety show since his solo comeback after eight years with BIGBANG. The program will focus on a music project where G-Dragon collaborates with various artists to create the song of the year.
The concept of the show was developed from ideas G-Dragon had during his break, which he pitched to renowned producer Kim Tae-ho (김태호). G-Dragon shared that the inspiration for 'Good Day' came from his childhood memories of watching his favorite singers perform together and the joyful moments he experienced during the 'Infinite Challenge' (무한도전) music festival.
Kim Tae-ho, who has a long-standing relationship with G-Dragon from their time on 'Infinite Challenge', is producing the show. Their mutual admiration and trust have led to a highly anticipated collaboration. 'Good Day' has already secured its MBC slot, marking Kim Tae-ho's return to the network after his departure in January 2022.
The show boasts an impressive lineup of guests, including comedian Jung Hyung-don (정형돈), fellow BIGBANG members Daesung (대성) and Taeyang (태양), and broadcaster Hwang Kwang-hee (황광희). Additionally, popular actors such as Kim Go-eun (김고은), Kim Soo-hyun (김수현), Jung Hae-in (정해인), Im Si-wan (임시완), and Hwang Jung-min (황정민) will also appear. The inclusion of junior idol groups like aespa and SEVENTEEN's unit BSS is expected to add further excitement to the show.
With such a star-studded cast, reactions have ranged from surprise to excitement, with many viewers expressing curiosity about the unique format of the show. The global release on Disney+ adds to the anticipation surrounding 'Good Day', which is set to premiere on February 16 at 9:10 PM KST on MBC.
