G-Dragon Kicks Off His First Concert in 8 Years with a Spectacular Show

G-Dragon (지드래곤) has officially launched his long-awaited concert series after an 8-year hiatus. On March 29, he took the stage at the Goyang Sports Complex in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, for the first performance of his third world tour, 'G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Ubermensch].' Over the course of two days, he is set to perform for more than 60,000 fans, marking a significant return to the concert scene.
This tour follows his record-breaking second world tour, which was the largest ever for a solo artist, and has generated immense excitement among fans. Tickets for the concert sold out quickly, even before general sales began, with additional seats being made available only to be snapped up within three minutes.
However, the chilly weather posed a challenge. With fans arriving from around the world, G-Dragon announced a change in the concert schedule just five hours before the show, delaying the start time by 30 minutes due to sudden adverse weather conditions.
Originally set to begin at 6:30 PM, the concert was pushed to 7 PM, but ultimately started at 7:43 PM. The agency explained that the delay was due to safety concerns caused by strong winds.
To warm up the audience, G-Dragon performed hits like 'POWER' and 'HOME SWEET HOME,' generating excitement despite the cold. Although Taeyang (태양) and Daesung (대성) did not appear live, they made a virtual appearance on the screens, much to the delight of fans. On the following day, both artists joined G-Dragon on stage for a special performance of 'HOME SWEET HOME' and an encore.
G-Dragon expressed his joy at returning, saying, "It’s been a long time. G-Dragon is back after 8 years, 88 months. Are you ready to enjoy today?" He humorously added, "I’m quite shy. If you don’t cheer for me, I might just leave the stage! Let’s work together!" He then launched into 'SUPER STAR.'
The concert featured surprise guest CL from 2NE1, who joined him for 'The Leaders,' showcasing their charisma together. G-Dragon also humorously remarked on the current state of performances, asking, "Do singers not drink water these days?" and apologized for the delay due to the cold weather.
He reflected on the significance of this comeback, stating, "I’ve been active without breaks, so the feeling of a 'comeback' is something I’m experiencing for the first time. I really wanted to show you something special, and I’m grateful for this moment."
After changing outfits, G-Dragon performed 'Bona Mana,' 'That XX,' and 'Butterfly,' the latter being a fan-favorite from his first studio album that he rarely performed live. The audience responded enthusiastically, especially to 'Butterfly.'
As the concert progressed, G-Dragon donned a black jacket with wings and continued with songs like 'I Love It,' 'Who You?' and 'Today.' Following the performance, a stunning drone show lit up the sky, creating images of G-Dragon's face alongside the cover of his 'Heartbreaker' album.
During 'Heartbreaker,' G-Dragon shared the stage with beatboxer Wing, delivering a powerful performance in a mint-colored suit and fedora. The show continued with high-energy tracks like 'Dog Sound' and 'TAKE ME,' where he playfully ran around the stage with a laser gun shaped like a guitar.
Despite the cold, G-Dragon engaged with the audience, sharing his thoughts on the artistic elements of his performance and expressing gratitude for their support. He also hinted at future performances, saying, "I’ll be back for more this year, as I know many fans are looking forward to it."
As the concert drew to a close, G-Dragon performed a series of encore songs, including 'Boy,' 'THIS LOVE,' and 'OUTRO. New Song,' wrapping up an unforgettable night.
In a charitable gesture, G-Dragon announced that he would donate 300 million won from the concert proceeds to support recovery efforts for the recent wildfires in Gyeongsang Province and Ulsan.
