G-Dragon Holds First Solo Concert in Eight Years Amid Fan Concerns

G-Dragon (지드래곤) has made a triumphant return to the stage with his first solo concert in eight years, taking place on March 29 and 30 at the Goyang Sports Complex in Goyang City. The event is part of his third world tour, 'G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Ubermensch]', and has attracted over 60,000 fans. The anticipation for this concert was palpable, especially following the intense ticketing competition that ensued during the sales phase.
However, the first day of the concert was marred by several issues. Due to inclement weather, the start of the show was delayed. The organizers announced a 30-minute postponement just five hours before the concert, but even at the rescheduled time of 7 PM, the performance did not commence. Fans were left waiting for an additional 43 minutes without any further updates before G-Dragon finally took the stage.
Upon his arrival, G-Dragon expressed his apologies for the delay, stating, "I’m sorry for starting late due to the cold weather." His agency, Galaxy Corporation, later clarified that the delay was due to safety concerns stemming from severe weather conditions.
Following the concert, a controversy erupted regarding the behavior of some audience members, particularly concerning littering. Images of trash left behind at the venue circulated on online communities, prompting backlash.
In response, fans initiated a self-organized cleanup effort ahead of the second concert on March 30. They shared guidelines emphasizing the importance of maintaining a respectful environment, such as 'taking trash home', 'following concert etiquette', and 'actively supporting the artist'. Additionally, reports of rampant ticket scalping emerged, with fans actively reporting scalpers to authorities.
As the final performance approaches, all eyes are on whether G-Dragon's last show will conclude on a high note, free from the previous day's disruptions. Notably, G-Dragon plans to donate 300 million KRW from the concert proceeds to support recovery efforts for the recent large-scale wildfires in Gyeongsang-do and Ulsan.
