G-Dragon and IU Reconnect on 'IU's Palette'

On March 27, IU's YouTube channel, IU's Palette (아이유의 팔레트), released an episode titled '8레트 88날아 왔지용 (With G-DRAGON) Ep.32', showcasing the warm friendship between IU and G-Dragon. The two stars appeared in matching scarf outfits, exuding a cute vibe.

During the episode, IU inquired about G-Dragon's long hiatus of seven years. She asked, "It's been so long since you've returned to us. Why did you take such a long break?" G-Dragon explained, "I missed the timing. With COVID-19 and my military service, it ended up being about seven years. It turns out it’s been 88 months since I last released music," he proudly shared.

The number '8' holds significance for G-Dragon, as it is linked to his birthday and is considered a lucky number in China. IU playfully teased him, saying, "You planned this, didn’t you?" G-Dragon responded, "It was just a day difference. I wanted to come back on October 31, but November 1 would have marked 88 months. I just had this urge to release it on October 31."

G-Dragon also revealed that he is preparing for a concert at the end of March, expressing his excitement and nervousness about the event.

IU then shared a special gift she received from G-Dragon, a palette album. G-Dragon remarked, "The show is called 'Palette', and I felt a connection to it from the start. I gave you a gift after working on the palette song, but it took a long time to get to you."

IU expressed her gratitude, saying, "That’s one of my treasures. It’s still one of my precious belongings. How could I ever receive something so thoughtful? I’m always touched by such meaningful gifts."

Additionally, IU recalled another thoughtful gift from G-Dragon: a bottle of wine from 2008, the year of her debut, which he had inscribed. She admitted she hasn’t opened it yet because it feels too special.

Despite their seven-year gap, IU playfully asked G-Dragon about a previous comment he made regarding feeling awkward around her. G-Dragon chuckled, saying, "Aren’t we closer than before?" He reminisced about being unsure how to interact with people when he was younger. IU proudly mentioned that G-Dragon attended her concert last year, and he agreed that their reunion felt more comfortable than before.

IU reflected, "We hadn’t seen each other in seven years, but it felt so natural, as if nothing had changed. Is that the comfort that comes with growing older together?" G-Dragon noted that they may not meet often, but they still exchange New Year greetings, emphasizing their closeness. IU then playfully reminded him of the New Year gifts he had given her, making G-Dragon blush.
